1. Quantity of medical laboratory lighting equipment
The amount of lighting required in a medical laboratory is determined by the following factors; the type of work, the color of the workbench, the color of the studio ceiling and walls, the distance between the fixed lighting and the work surface, and the size of the space that needs to be illuminated.
Once the above factors and the required illuminance standard are determined, a certain number of lighting devices that meet the illuminance standard can be selected. As shown in Table 6-8.

2. Location of medical laboratory lighting equipment installation
Lighting equipment should be installed perpendicular or diagonal to the work surface, which both unifies the layout and eliminates shadows caused by objects occluded. Lighting is installed parallel to the benchtop, often creating shadows from experimenters working in front of the benchtop and from cabinets above the benchtop. In the absence of cabinets above the work surface, the lighting can be installed parallel to the work surface or directly above the active side of the work surface.

3. Selection of medical laboratory lighting equipment types
The lighting equipment in medical laboratories is generally suitable for fluorescent lamps, which not only have long service life, large power supply area, high luminous efficiency, but also low calorific value. In the analytical chemistry laboratory, when judging the color change end point of the volumetric titration indicator by visual method, a fluorescent lamp can be installed at the operation place; in the laboratory with strict electromagnetic interference requirements, it is not suitable to use a gas discharge lamp. Radioactive laboratories, sterile rooms, infectious microbiology laboratories, and laboratories engaged in carcinogen or poison operations should use flush-mounted clean lamps, wires and pipes should be installed in the dark, and light switches should be installed in outdoor corridors. The laboratory area used to separate microorganisms and molecular biology experiments should be able to effectively protect staff and specimens from contamination. Ultraviolet lamps are the most commonly used disinfection equipment. The fixed ultraviolet lamps installed on the polished ceiling should not be more than 2.1 from the ground. m, the number of UV lamps should be determined according to the pharma machinery space. When using UV lighting equipment, you must be sure that the surface of the object (eg, paint on wall surfaces, countertops, etc.) can withstand the bleaching action of UV light. The control switch should be located outside the door and separate from the control switch of general lighting fixtures; the entrance to the laboratory should have a textual light signal display of the laboratory’s working status; moisture, corrosive gases and vapors, fire hazards and explosion hazards, etc. In the place, lamps with corresponding protective performance should be selected; evacuation indicators should be installed in the evacuation passages of safe exits, so that the evacuated personnel can be quickly evacuated in the event of an emergency; lighting should be installed in the pipeline technical layer and controlled by a separate Branch circuit or professional distribution box (panel) power supply.
